Columbus tubing replacement

Hello,
I have a 54 inch Cinelli frame with Columbus tubing from around 1980. The label says; Acciaio Speciale. I need to replace the top and down tubes which are 28.6mm. Can anyone recommend where and what type of replacement tubes I should get? Of course I wouldn’t want anything heavier then I have. I’m also under 150lbs.
Thank you for your time, Roland

Most frames of that era used a 25.4mm top tube (1") and 28.6mm (1-1/8") down tube.

Most any butted tube of the proper size will work fine. .9/.6 butted is about right. Brand is not important unless you are particular about such things.

Good luck.

Thanks Nessism,

I did some checking and found an old Columbus catalogue on line. I came to the same conclusion as you; guessing the tubing is SL (0.9/0.6/0.9) and not SP (1.0/0.7/1.0). This is based on; bicycle is fairly light, below 21 lbs and is small framed at 54cm. The nearest tubing I could find on the internet was Columbus SPX. The thickness is the same as the SP with 1.0/0.7/1.0, but of course with more weight.

Solution two--- you mentioned tube brand as not important. I found the Nova CRMO tubes that would be same wall thickness. Could you recommend those? Do they weaken with do much heat; we are planning to use silver solder?

Thanks Roland
