Now that you mention Potrero, I am worried! I've had to walk it when attempting it with my 39x27 (2004). I made it just fine for 2 years with my 30x27 (triple-2005, 2006), but now (2007) will attempt it with a compact 34x27. Will I make it? Or will I walk? I dunno . . .
In either case, by the time I'm in the 18-19% percent part, I will probably feel like that proverbial "badly micro-waved potato" that everyone is talking about! . . . or at least my legs will.

Rick, did you go up to the lifts on Saturday? If you did, Potrero should be a piece of cake. If not, well, oh well. Good luck

just before the final pitch to allow my brain to continue operating marginally.
No walking involved, just standing there looking like emminent death.
This was after a very hard solo up from Topanga into a nasty headwind.
It'll be a lot easier Saturday morning without the wind.

Adam,
Will you be in your pink UCSD kit on Saturday? If so I'll say HI! to you when you fly by me.

Thanks for all the advice everyone,
Yes, it is a 34x27, my typo! I fixed it it with the "edit" option.
No, I didn't ride to the ski lifts last Sat. but I have done it with this gearing (about a month ago). So I will try it and see how it goes!

Register day of (or evening before) is not dangerous at Grand Tour. Many other rides, yes, but not this one!

Yes WhiteCarbonDude, I did.
In fact, my wife and I both worked Butterfield 2007. I rode it in 2005 and 2006, but wasn't up to it this year!
We didn't work any checkpoints, but we were on the road SAG for the front of the group (fast riders) plus we were marking the route with white arrows for Deb.
We both rode Hemet, I rode Eastern Sierra and we're both riding Grand Tour. After that (doubles wise) I haven't decided.

hello
Anyone 'camping' in their vehicle in the chruch parking lot? I did last year but ended up not getting any sleep.
