Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I have version 3.10 loaded and when I go to the webupdater it says there aren't any updates available. What's up with that?

This is a double secret update....

Seriously, its new, it was just released today so it probably hasnt made it to the web updater yet. In fact, its not even on Garmin's page for new firmware. That isnt really that uncommon tho. The last version of Training Center was available for about a week before it was announced.

They'll probably "officially" release it on Monday. Releasing it on Friday could be bad if it caused a bunch of units to fail and tech support was closed all weekend.

I don't get it... it says:

*Fixed USB problem with Macintosh computers*

However, the link, even on Garmin's website (https://www8.garmin.com/support/downl...s.jsp?id=1243), is an *.exe file.

How about an update for Macs so we can update our 305's!?

I updated mine and rode up and down the street. Everything looks like it works okay. It paired right up with the cadence sensor, etc.

And a hello to Boston! You're a long way from home!!! I grew up in Santa Barbara but I must say, I'm liking the valley a lot more than over the mountain these days. The riding here is a dream. We should go for a ride if you come back to visit one of these days.

indeed.. and yes, riding there is awesome. i wish i could come back on a biweekly basis to ride the loop over figueroa. my parents still live in solvang and my dad rides fairly regularly if you're interested. he's on here too, although i don't know how regularly.

If you're doing figueroa then you're leaps and bounds above my abilities . I'm more of a Ballard Canyon/Santa Rosa Rd/ Drum Canyon type of guy. Working at getting in shape to do Figueroa some day...just not yet.

Fixing the calorie count is not a trivial task. Remember Garmin neglected to use heart rate in the calculation of calories. So when the Edge/Forerunner calculates calories you will apparently burn more coasting downhill at 30 mph than riding up at 10 mph. That is a lot of code to fix, I wouldn't expect this any time soon.

That's ok WW, it inspires me when I see 3000 calories burned on a 30 mile ride!

Two question:
1. When do you expect to support direct import of Garmin data?
2. Are you Vista compatible?

1) Within a couple of days. I'm in final test this evening, though I may try and squeeze in a couple of more features. The Garmin import feature will be via the Training Center's ".tcx" file...to import your Garmin rides into CycliStats, you'll drag and drop your .tcx file onto the CycliStats calendar (or, via "File / Import" on the menu).

2) As far as I know, yes. There were a couple of issues when Vista first came out, but I'm pretty sure they've all been addressed (I know I have at least a few customers running on Vista).

I did the webupdater, but it is not clear that it worked. How do I find out what version is on my Garmin?
