New Guy from Newfoundland

Well, I just found this forum while I was browsing the Net for information on my soon to be new ride, a Giant STP 2. This will be my first real mountain bike, and I'm so excited to be replacing the Wal-Mart bike I ride at the moment. This place looks like a cool place to hang out and learn something, but if I say something stupid, please remember I'm completely new to good bikes

Thanks all

Hello CrankshaftYQX, I know we've got at least one other member who's a Newfie, but you are a rare breed indeed!

Check out the Eastern Canada regional forum and see if you can't find some more . In the meantime, congratulations on the bike upgrade.

Oh, no such thing as a stupid question, but do a search before you ask. Many times questions have been asked and answered many times. Check out any stickies you see at the top of each individual forum, and if you still need an answer, feel free to ask.

Welcome to BF!

Where in St. John's do you live? I'm in Mount Pearl quite a bit, and I generally have access to a bike. Maybe we can meet up and you can show me some cool trails out your way

Welcome to the Forums. I have relatives living in Nova Scotia, and my maternal grandparents came from Saint Stephens, New Brunswick.

How's cycling up there? Is it very seasonal, and how hard are the winters?

The winters are made easier by the fact there's a 160-hp 600 c.c snowmobile in my garage

I have relatives in Spring Hill, Nova Scotia, and there's a great trail just outside their house. I've been considering buying a cheapo MTB and leaving it up there.

The cycling here is ridiculously seasonal, as there's often snow on the ground in May, but our winters have been shrinking drastically as of late. It's great though
