back on pavement

I started my serious riding on pavement back in 1963 (!) when I went away to a boarding school that had cycling as a sport you could take. But as the years went by I got lured into the woods (Cannondale and now Giant XTC) and never got back into road riding -- until this week.

A friend who organized the club I ride with (the "Dim Bulbs" - we ride in the woods at night here on Cape Cod) offered me a very nice used pre-bankruptcy GT Edge with Campy gear and I said why not.

I'll drop in to the old folks home (aka over-50) and get some recommendations on best riding position setup for someone whose neck and back have a few more miles on them than they did in '63 [grin].

Hello Dan, glad to have you back with us after all those years . Love the name of the club--you will fit right in with that quirky sense of humour.

Welcome to BF!

East Hill:

Thanks for the welcome.

I have fond memories of going to car races in Kent, WA when I was a student at Reed College way back when.

Was it located on 310th and 144th then? I've zoomed past it going very fast downhill on my bike (on what turns into 304th). There were people out there practising going very fast on the Speedway (now known as Pacific Raceways, by the way).

That was a lot of brain cells ago, so I don't remember the location. The few remaining cells claim it was called "Ocean Shores Raceway" and for the motorheads here, it hosted sports racing, Trans Am and Group 7 cars.
