I'll be there. That's the plan, anyway. It'll be my first race with the masters 4/5s. Because I am old.

Based on the lineup you have, I could not keep up for even the first block. Out of my league.
Looks like a good crew. Dave can open up a few bike lengths at will.

My lame Cat Celeb race is slated to go at 4:10 that afternoon.

The others will probably be in the 4/5 event.

No worries, one can burn just as many brain cells on a 1/2 mile, 4 corner crit course as you could on the big climbs.

Yep, the 100k route. This year I am planning on tackling the 200k course. If I don't return, send out the search dogs and make sure they scatter my ashes on Blue Mound...

No thanks for me though....got one out of my system last year and found that it's not really my thing. I'm more into short bursts of pretend speed.

News flash:

According to JS Online, event promoter Billy Ochowicz crashed in Sunday's Trek 100.

The weekend double-header of charity rides tally:

3,307 riders and about $1.5 million raised for the Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer in the TREK 100,

7,103 riders and $325,000 for the United Performing Arts Fund in the Miller Lite Ride for the Arts,

and more broken bones than organizers would care to count.

The numbers show that the scattered showers didn't curb participation, but the rain did make for some difficult conditions at times on the ride routes, particularly early in the TREK 100 ride for the MAAC Fund on Saturday.

Charles Newman, a 60-year-old from Lake Bluff, Ill., suffered severe chest injuries in a crash on St. Augustine Rd., near Monches, and was reported to be in satisfactory condition at Froedtert Hospital Monday afternoon.

Another rider caught up in that mishap was treated at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls.

Ride organizer Colleen Moran said the number of accidents was about normal for the event, but that the need for the Flight for Life helicopter, which transported Newman, was a first.

In future years, the route will bypass St. Augustine Rd. and it's steep grade and sharp corners, Moran said.

Billy Ochowicz, a veteran on the local race scene, fractured his left hip in a crash a bit further into the ride, on a flat stretch near the northern-most point of the route.

It seems a rider blew a rear tire, went down and started a domino effect magnified by super-slick conditions on Rest Haven Rd. Roughly 25 to 30 riders hit the pavement, unable to maneuver around the crash.

Ochowicz, 45, had surgery on Saturday and is recuperating at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital.
