Can my bike handle it?
ive been putting bike through hell lately....
ive been doing kinda like trials, but not tricks and stuff...there is this cleared out area near my house that i have been riding on...its like an old blast mining site thats about half the size of a football field...lots of little jump and steeps and rock gardens and 2 to 3 foot drops...not to mention the field is covered with death cookies...now alot of you have seen my bike and its build and the components...Do you think it will hold up to the punishment? Its a mid-level XC bike...the only thing that went wrong today was my chain fell off the the crank while i was going about 12mph and took a 3 foot drop followed by a 2 foot jump going on a downhill slope...Opinions?

Sounds like a good time to me. Yeah, you're frame should be alright...lifetime warranty on it, right? Just keep an eye on the wheels, maybe pick up a pair of beater wheels for days you feel like going all out.

im more wondering why I had that chain pop...are chain pops fairly common when the trail shakes your bike pretty good?

so bassically i shouldnt go to my LBS and ask them if there is something wrong because of my chain pop

It should be rare. If it pops off everytime you go 12mph off a 3 ft drop and onto a 2 ft jump, then you might need a higher chain tension (lose a link or a tighten the screw on the RD...B screw I think), but if it is once in a while, I'd just attribute it to the big ol' bump.

ok i went to the same drop/jump again today and hit it 3 times...2 of the 3 times the lower part of the chain slipped off the crank gear, but the upper part stayed on so I was able to pedal it out...so i guess I need to lose a link or have the tension tightened in some way eh?
