Upgrade for the Puch

A freind gave me a set of nice set of aluminum rims with a Deore XT 7 speed freehub. So I spent the better part of yesterday breaking down the bike, spreading the frame from 126mm to 135mm to accomodate the freehub axel and installing, adusting, etc . I got a nice 7 speed 11/30 cassette to put on it, so I have both a lower gear and a higher one than I did before. Switching the knobbies that were on it for my Slickasauruses turned out to be the hardest part of the job. Tires went off and on the old steel rims in a snap. I don't know why it was so hard with these aluminum ones, but it was quite chore.

I think it was well worth it though. I got to try it out going to pick up for chinese carryout last evening. My commute to work and back today will be the acid test.
