Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The bike came with Fizik black tape but it was glossy and not my cup of tea, they gave me the OEM white bar tape when I bought the bike so i installed that one instead. Feelsgood, probably 2.5-3mm thick but I tsill prefer Lizardskins so when this tape get dirty Ill swap it out for that.

Nice choice!! I was just about to pull the trigger on one of those in that exact color before I found my Evo.

2006 Trek 5200. New bartape this weekend- Lizardskins DSP 2.5. New tires too - Continental GP4000 SII.

The old bar tape was black. Still on the fence with the blue. Not sure if I really like it or not.

When I finish paying for it I will have a Cannondale Synapse 5 105 2013 year so it was discounted I have it on layaway at my LBS
Right now I have a mountain bike with road/hybrid tires. My husband bought me the tires and had my bike reworked in April. Since then I have rode over 600 miles and finally topped a mountain with 1000 feet gain in 2.5 miles. Thought I'd die. I can't wait to get my road bike hopefully by Christmas. I am riding my mountain bike with road biker friends so I think I'll kick butt when I get the road bike
At the top of my first mountain ascent.

14 Allez Race, to me I can't tell it apart from the 14 Tarmac 105 I rented. Stiff bike, its a bargain.

You're going to love the power transfer. Those shocks are likely absorbing a lot of the power you're expending. Putting a cheap straight fork on that may help with that until your Synapse arrives in December.

Hey all - new to the forum, and new to the road bike world. I just upgraded from my Trek 7.3 FX hybrid (fitted with bar ends for longer rides) to a Trek Madone 2.1. This is the only picture I have of it thus far - I got a flat tire 10 miles into my first ride on it...happy to report I've ridden almost 100 miles since then (about two weeks) with no further flats or issues. Having a great time so far - did my first 25 miler today. That's 5 miles farther than I ever went on the hybrid, and my average pace was almost 2 MPH faster as well. Almost time to take back to the LBS and get the cables readjusted.

Thanks - my FX is same color as your Madone. I also kept mine, to go for bike rides with the kids, and I think I'm going to try and turn it into a half hybrid-half cyclocross bike. It will also be my bike to ride in the slop weather in the early Spring/late Fall (midwesterner).

After my pathetic attempt at pics yesterday, I realized it would probably be a good idea to have nice pics of my bikes in case of theft or other unforseeable incident. Here they are - my 2013 Trek 7.3 FX and my 2014 Trek Madone 2.1
