Our Very Own Newspaper!!

OUR VERY OWN NEWSPAPER!!

I had to have the new BikeMoblie adjusted a bit today, so I took my bike to the auto shop and did a 25 mile ride into downtown Denver and back while it was being fixed. The Cherry Creek Trail goes from around the corner from the dealership directly downtown, with only crossing 2 street crossings over the 12.5 miles.

On the way, I stopped at the Cook Recreation Center and found this newspaper someone had made just for our 50+ Bicycling Forum!

And, it is the right price, also.

You notice it doesn't say a thing about 50- folks!

Getting back to the other topic on senior centers, there are going to be a lot of 50+'ers who won't be thrilled to be celebrated as "older Americans." I don't think I would have emphasized that quite as much as this paper did.

I think I saw that paper when I was out in Colorado last year. Perused it as I ate lunch.

I should consider myself a senior as long as it's catered to the 50 +.

I would much rather be called a geezer than an older American.

Since I have reached the age (65) that makes it hard to deny some degree of seniorism, I am all for the marketing of and participation in the "active lifestyle." I think that most folks can stay active and live longer and all that......then I see one of those PBS specials with a folk music concert or a bunch of doo-wap groups and I have to tell you, it makes my skin crawl. Those performers are OLD and the crowd trying to sing along isn't much younger. I don't get nostalgic, I get sick and reach for the remote.

Important exception: Tony Bennett. He's still got it.
