Semi-N00b in Chicago
Hiya!
I'm terrible at these introductions.
I've been lurking on some other bike communities, and just found this forum. Oh my! More to fuel my love. I have an old Schwinn road bike, and I'm slowly making her awesome. She's perfect for my needs - no one will want to steal her, she goes pretty quick, and for the time being, she doesn't mind living outside in the wilds of Chicago.
I commute to work on 5 miles a day, not too far by most standards, but for someone who used to drive everywhere, a good start. I basically got totally sick of the CTA totally sucking and took matters into my own hands and could not be happier. I'm also lucky to live in a city where biking is pretty easy.
I'm learning to work on my bike myself, slowly but surely. Gives a great feeling of satisfaction.
I guess that's all. For now, I have 3 bikes. My Schwinn, a Dahon that was my original bike (that was waaayyyyy toooo sloooowwww) and a Schwinn crusiser that I'm going to eventually get around to selling.... ahhh, bikes.

Hello L, I see you have negotiated your way over to the Great Lakes forum, but don't forget to stop by the Classic & Vintage forum with photos of your Schwinn, 'kay? Oh, and we'll want some real life experiences of commuting in Chicago in the Commuting forum.
