Frame Suggestions...
Hi all,
I've completed several tours and am looking planning on ramping up my commuting distance. I'm also planning on relocating to dry, sunny Portland, Oregon. To celebrate the move, I'd like to build up a Rohloff/SON-equipped bike that I can use for commuting, loaded touring, and perhaps even light offroad touring (though this is less of a requirement). I'm hoping to find a frame in steel, with full rack mounts, 450mm+ chainstays, Rohloff-friendly dropouts, and here's the kicker - disk brake tabs (heresy!) AND canti mounts just in case. I'd also like to use 700c wheels, and I generally fit a 55mm frame (5'9" w/ 30" inseam).
Nobody seems to make this frame. The closest I can find to something that would work off the shelf is a Kona Sutra, but that is apparently not sold as a frameset only.
In the end I may just have to spend the money on a custom frame (I'll be in Portland after all) or cut back on my requirements, but I thought I'd throw this out there to see if anyone has anyone has any suggestions. I've looked at the Gunnar Rock Tour also but the 29er version is too big for me.
Thanks in advance,
Dolan Halbrook
