Cyclometer
I am thinking of buying a cyclometer for my new bike, but I am also thinking of trying to find one with a heart rate monitor built into it for my Polar strap.
What is everyone using and what is the best way to go?
Simple and cheap is the best for me.
Does everyone use the cadence computers, or is it just something else to cause problems?

I have a Caty Astrale 8 on one bike and a Trek 11i on another. Both have cadence because I like keeping an eye on it. I'm a little guy without a lot of power so I have to be sure I keep my cadence high or I wear myself out quickly. I've been happy with both and they are both pretty cheap. $40 or so.
Polar does make some all in one computers with the bike stuff and heartrate stuff built in. I have no personal experience with these so I cannot comment.

I'll second the Cateye Astrale 8 with cadence. Though now I've moved on to a Garmin Edge 305. If you're looking for cycling and HR functions in one unit, check out the Garmins, but be warned they start around $150-$200.

Maybe I will just get a Cateye Astrale 8 and then just wear my Polar with the wrist watch or strap the watch to the bars somewhere when I am riding.

If you already have the Polar, then that may be a good idea. If you want to upgrade to a nicer unit later, you can always go to a nicer Polar or the Garmins which do all in one.

I didn't know Garmin made things that work with the Polar chest straps. I may have to look into that also.

The Garmin HR's come with their own strap. I don;t believe they work with Polar straps.

I think I will get a cyclometer with a cadence and then just either wear my watch heart rate monitor, or strap it to the bars somewhere so I can read it easily. Too bad my LBS is an hour or so away and not in the direction I am headed at all this week.
