well i recently found out that i was already a member. must have lost this site with computer switch!
anywho, i am in sevierville, like to ride in the mountains (and anywhere else really). i recently bought a neuvation f100 after riding a KHS for five or so years. if you can stomach not having name brand the neuvations are awesome. i may never buy another brand. i REALLY like the sram gears, the double tap shifting is great.
see you on the road.
im doing the English Mountain Challenge after missing every year except the first. Anyone else doing it?

Going to Nashville tomorrow, what are the best bike shops in the area?
I've heard I need to hit on in Murfeesboro, and one in Franklin, also Gran Fondo. Any others?

The one in Franklin is Harpeth Cycles. Awesome guys over there and a great shop. The best in my opinion.

Harpeth is great. Also Bike Pedlar in Brentwood. That's where I bought my last bike and they have been great to me.

And if you're looking for something a bit different, Halcyon Bike Shop over on 12 South sells used bikes. It's a younger scene over there which is quite refreshing when compared to the somewhat snobby, high end bike shops. Go check it out. Great people there.

Thanks guys. A bit late, hit Gran Fondo - nice shop, upscale.
Hit Cumberland - also a nice shop
Last was Harpeth - interesting shop. Seems to have the least amount of bikes I've seen in a shop, and caters just to roadies. Seems like a nice shop.
I have also hit the birmingham shops, and Bob's bikes (Specialized concept store) and Birmingham Bikes were my two favorites. Just very impressive shops.

They may deal primarily with road bikes, but I've seen a lot of incredible mountain bikes go through there. I think they mainly deal with people who want to build up custom mountain bikes and people who race. But yeah, I've seen some awesome rides go through that shop.

Didn't notice any mountain bike frames, but don't doubt you. Still a cool shop.

Yeah, it's mainly people who know the guys there, order the parts and have them build it. They don't carry many frames or components on hand.

It's certainly high end. A fitting costs over 300.00 there, but it's not your average fitting.

Everyone....
My name is David. I'm a 47 yr old active duty Occupational Therapist in the US Army stationed at FT Campbell near Clarksville. I've been riding bikes for 20+ years....more seriously recently. Back in the early '90's I worked in a San Antonio TX bike shop, raced mtn bikes and did LOTS of miles on the road. I commute daily now to work (1 mile) on my Specialized M2 hardtail mtn bike. I've not been on my road bike (circa 1993 C'dale 2.8 aluminum frame built with circa 1980's Campagnolo C-Record components) in probably 15 years...until recently. (I'm lusting after a Lynskey Cooper ti bike.) I've discovered the country roads North of FT Campbell.....(near La Lafayette, Peedee, Herndon, Binns Mill, etc) and have been doing 50 milers by myself. A couple of weekends ago I did the C.R.A.M and did the metric century and it felt great to be riding with groups in pace lines again.
Last night I found the BRAT ride and am seriously considering doing that in Spetember.
I found this site last night as well and figured I'd introduce myself.
Anyone close?
David

Thanks Susan!
I did the CRAM metric which shares much of that century route....and it is really flat. I've read that the record time is <4 hours!

hey guys..anyone doing the Harpeth River ride on june 27th. It will be my first metric in over 15 years, so i'm really pumped. I've been off the bike for the last ten years and just started riding seriously again about 3 months ago. I'm still riding the bike i built back in 1994, why change a good thing?. Well hope to meet a few from on here.

I'll be doing the Harpeth River Ride 100 mile version (although I think it was only 96 last year ). Congrats on getting back on the bike. I just started up a little over 2 years ago after being off a bike of any sort for 25 years.

Hello... new member here. Live in Cookeville, TN. 40 years old and am just beginning to get back into riding. Road riding mostly now--no trails for the time being. Riding for enjoyment and to lose weight.
Bike: Specialized Sequoia Comp & a GT bike to haul the child carrier.
Look forward to learning & hearing from others!

I am located in Fall Branch, just on the southwest end of Kingsport. This is the first time I have been on a bike since I was around 12 or so. Great to be here on the board and looking forward to learning a lot.
