Pedals?
I am having the stock pedals taken off my Trek 8000 before I pick it up because I do not have my shoes anymore and want to ride this weekend. Do you guys sugest getting the clip type shoes again for moderate to light trail riding or just going with regular non cage pedals?

I love my clips....but I guess it depends on how "light" you mean. If its truly going to be "light" then I wouldn't bother....but I think you "should" get clips (pedals and shoes) and do much MORE than "light" riding.

But honestly, a good set of platform pedals will work fine. I've done 40+ mile rides on platforms & skate shoes - not the most comfortable thing in the world, but it can be done.

The only pair of shoes I have are skate shoes. I would really like some clipless pedals and get rid of these platforms...

I really like the security of clipless pedals, and you can find shoes that that are more like sneakers than bike shoes. Just be careful when sizing.

I tell people that don't have clipless pedals "once you try them, you won't go back".

I have used them before and agree they are great. When I say light I mean to start with. I have the clips and pedals will add the shoes later. I am sure the first week or two the regular pedals will give me plenty of exercise.
