9 miles in 2 minutes

And wow, are my legs tired!

I went for an enjoyable circuit last night starting from home. Temp was about 75°, low humidity, partly cloudy, a bit breeze. I averaged a bit over 12 mph, and never unclipped the entire ride (got lucky at the only stoplight )

We live on the outskirts of River Falls, WI, and I started out going out of town up a STEEP hill. I managed to hit 39 mph on the following downhill. From there it was about 5 miles of lightly rolling hills through the country and back into town. After a mile down main street, the last mile brought me back home.

Oh, I said two minutes, right? Here's a video of my ride, which I drove right after the ride: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k--zXqlW77M

Same weather here in Rochester and man is it nice. I banged out 15 mile today and had to force myself to drink water. Between the cool 75 degree weather and wind I kept pretty cool and didn't sweat like normal. Do bad it won't last.

Nice job on the ride and vid.

Yeah, gotta be careful to drink. Whatever sweating you do dries right away when the humidity is low. I was doing okay, but by starting out with a killer climb, I was on the verge of calf cramps halfway through.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. It actually took me 45 minutes to ride, and about 20 to drive it, with the camera wedged on a sock stuffed with dry rice on the dashboard. It fell a few times, which accounts for a few of the gaps.

For my next trip, I'll go 30 miles an hour with my cat curled around my neck (all the way to McDonalds...)

I went a *mite* slower. My bike speedo showed 9 miles. Car showed 8.6. Google Maps says 8.1. Oh well.

I went counterclockwise.

You went right down division street! You'd think I would have recognized that....

River falls would be a nice place to ride. I'd be stopping at the college in the shade, and I'd nap over by the pool in the park (is that still there?) and take a little break at the five and dime on main street (bet that's* not there anymore!).

You can tell I don't push it real hard on my rides.

It was a good* riding day in this area today. The wind seemed to be on my back for every hill! And all the dogs were on leash!

Glad you had a good ride. The weather has made it difficult to stay at work, so I've been going in at 6 am and sneaking off at 3.

The pool is still there, over in Glen Park. We may ride down for a dip this weekend. 5 & Dime? There is a Ben Franklin, but it's been cleaning out stock the past month, going out of business. Downtown is still thriving, though. Theater is up to $3, but that's for first-run movies (Transformers this week), and $10 gets tickets, large drink, candy, and popcorn for TWO.

It's about 1.5 miles west on Division to Main. The Domestic Associate and I have started riding down on Friday afternoons. We grab a sub for dinner and eat along the river, then head over to downtown to check out the weekly concert. If we go as far as Glen Park, it's about a 6 mile round trip. 5 otherwise.

My all time high speed record is just south of you going into the Kinickinick river valley. Crossing in Prescot and Hudson and following the river both ways makes for a wicked loop.

Is that on County F? Today I rode west to F, south through the K² valley, then back to RF along FF. Hit 44 mph on the steep descent to the Kinni. We won't speak of the climb out of the south side. At least I finished it without resorting to walking. FF was a really enjoyable leg, about 5-6 miles of winding farm & forest, 2' paved margins, very little traffic, and just enough mild ups 'n downs to remind me I'm not on a rail trail.
