Your preferred Tour De France commentators?

Just curious who your preferred Tour De France Commentators are?

Not to influence the poll results, but Al Trautwig is a shmuck and has no place commentating over this great race!

Those of you who vote for the American swine must explain yourselves!

Phil and Paul. Just because they know how to pronounce "Tour de France". Hey Bobke, it's not "TOUR DAY FRANCE"

I like to have Phil, Bobke, and Paul commenting all together. Bobke adds a certain humor and insight that adds to Paul and Phil. I am not a fan of Al Tautwig. He is a good commenter but is spread pretty thin commenting for the VS channel.

You don't get it or are too new to understand. That is a joke, a play on the French language from when Bobke was racing and had trouble more then once just asking for water.

I like both and I think it's like comparing apples and oranges. There are things mentioned on the prime time show that aren't covered in the live coverage and vice versa.

Now, if only you could see every race with different commentators ... like maybe switch back and forth the audio feeds? Then you could watch the DVD's over and over ... never getting bored!

+1. Bobke makes it fun. Some of those long transition stages could use a little humor to keep my interests up. Al Trautwig, on the other hand, he can go and I don't think anyone is going to miss him.

All one has to do is listen to Bobke pronounce "de" correctly any number of times
to realize he's pulling your leg. Ever listen to him speak flemish? Italian? French?
the man knows it's not Tour DAY France.
Phil and Paul may be the best commentating team in sports, let alone cycling.
I do like Sean kelly's commentating but he is difficult to understand for me.

Phil, Paul and Bob were in the booth for the Giro a few years back - when OLN showed it live on a daily basis. I rather enjoyed the threesome.

By the way, what ever happened to Coffee Brown?

+1 for Sean Kelly and David Duffield, think its David Harmon who does the live commentary on Eurosport.

I used to be a big fan of Phil and Paul but this year they have shown that they are just a big pawn like Al and Bob for the Versus and Discovery Channel. How many times did I hear Phil and Paul say "like a certain Lance Armstrong" throughout the race.

I know Versus pays the bill but come on....Contador is his own rider.

I've actually gained more respect for Al this year than in previous ones. Biggest reason: he's not as biased and his position on the commentary panel is supposed to reflect the "common man's understanding". His statements and questions might seem rudimentary, but it's good insight for the average viewer. Secondly, he was the only one to have the guts to say (not verbatim) "hey if Vino and (supposedly) Ras cheated, how about Contador? Who can you trust?"

Bob, Phil and Paul would never insinuate that anyone on the Disco team is dirty.

Oh we get it, but very few are in on the loop. Think of all of the average boob tube watchers viewing the Tour, and then they hear Bob mis-pronouncing the name of the race. Many may actually think that:
1. That is how you actually pronounce it, which is wrong
2. Bob Roll is ignorant to the French language.

Sooo...For Bob's and the French language sake, he should pronounce it correctly.

Yes, Koffee Brown. Thanks Marty. Didn't stop by here much for a while and missed a couple things. Was also wondering what happened to some of the other regulars. Brent Dube, Girl27, My58vw, DonD (banned I think).
