1 1/8" - 1" steering tube

yea i just bought a new fork for my bike and the fork has a 1 1/8" steering tube but my bike has a 1" head tube and i was wondering if i could just put a 1" tube inthe fork by spacing at the bottom so its 1 1/8" where it attaches to the fork but the rest of the tube is 1". if anyone knows if this is possible let me know

You could also correct this by keeping the fork and buying a new bike.

Sorry, couldn't leave that one laying there.

It all depends. Back in the day you could do such a thing with some of the Marzzochi Mtn. shocks.

1. Is it even replaceable?
2. Hoe is it fixed to the crown?

Is this a mountain bike? I kinda just assumed that it was a road frame! Well, guess that shows you all where my loyalties lie.

i'm on an '89 with a 1" headtube too. I stuck with the rigid fork and 1.5" tires. All 1" suspension forks I found were crap, not worth the price vs the bike, or too old & worn to bother. I am assuming you're talking about suspension forks. Build another bike around your new fork.
