Was considering a trailer, or more likely some rigid panniers made out of cat litter buckets, the buckets come in all sizes and I buy litter often enough to choose which ones would fit best. I'll probably try out different things to see what suits me over time.

Here´s my newest addition - a modern Long John with aluminium frame - designed by Danish company Larry vs. Harry, model is "John Player Spezial". SRAM i-Motion 9 rear hub, hydraulic discs. Fast bike and a pleasure to ride.

Lane finally came through with my 7 rail. I love it. Its not staying on this bike though.

This is an overhead view of my "Type 10".
There is a fiberglass extension jutting from the head-tube. The Suzuki fairing is on the front. There is a 12 volt 7 amp/hour battery on the left. Directional blinkers are on the ends of the wood cross-member.
Notice there are two headlights.
Rear view shows the blinkers in Four-way mode. Rear blinkers have white lenses, although I also have a set of blue lenses for them (I don't want to get in trouble for impersonating a Police car).
A rear view of my recumbent. The coroplast panniers are brand new, made a day after election day with a used campaign sign as a source of coroplast.
Frame mounted box, attached to the headtube, is aerodynamic as a fairing.

Here is my new utility commuter. Now that its all rainy, almost snowy in chicago, the Varsity is semi hibernating.
I finally outfitted my modern bike with alll of the Utility commuting goodies. All I need now is a hitch for my trailer.

Great to see the CETMArack in action, Chicagoan! Here's the newest addition to the CETMA project. It's called CETMAcargo, and this is the first bike. Finally happy to see a cargo-bike like this available in the US!!

This one's sort of a prototype (inexpensive components) and so far it's fantastic. It's just been assembled today and I've been riding it non-stop.
The frame is unique in that the platform is integrated into the frame, which means a lower load and eliminates dead weight of a box sitting atop the tubing underneath.
This frame is also bi-partable, so different sized front ends can be paired with different sized rears. Makes shipping a hell of a lot easier, too.

BTW I would prefer a frameset so I can equip it the way I prefer...choosy that way. LOL

That looks to be a Worksman front-loading trike with grocery basket installed. The platform just bolts on to the springs on those, and it would be real simple to attach any kind of homemade box or chest, or the grocery cart as here. Ideally, the load would be down low and spread out a bit more, though.

My 16" Smoke 2-9. Too dreary to drag it outside right now for nice pictures
65 miles so far...so good! I got it for my local errands and for my long commute to work that I hope to do at least 3 times a week. Rear rack is next, then panniers. I am also dabbling with the idea of milling a piece of black walnut to make a shelf in the basket.

Waiting on the "get it functioning" parts for my utility build before I order a CETMA 7-rail. I'll post pix as things get finished up. The bike is an '87 Schwinn Woodlands that I scavenged from the dumpster. It's mostly OK, just some routine things to fix: Cassette and chain need replaced. Needs street tires. The front shifter is broken.
Once I take care of that, I'm putting my rack and bucket panniers on back. Then it's the 7-rail for the front.
I can hardly wait for parts to arrive next week.

Version 1: Long-John style (a single center boom down the middle with wooden box on top). A good design, but nothing new.
Version 2: Frame-integrated platform. HUGE improvement. Eliminates the box and adds rigidity. Flat-bed means larger carrying capacity. Rear "end" could use fortifying.
Version 3: The best yet. Mixte-style rear (lower-standover/added strength), slacker seat tube for rider versitility, and larger cargo area. The frame can be split in the middle for shipping. Also, steeper head-tube for better handling at slower speeds. Disc brakes and wide gear range have been added.

hey that new CETMA bike looks nice. disc brakes are definitely warranted as well as the seat position change. were you shooting for a "feet on the ground while seated" setup? looks sweet. have you set a price yet? when you have it loaded up is it laterally stable with the bolted joints?
