should a backup mtb bike be geared or singlespeed.

You could add 26 or 29 to that as well.

My next bike will most likely be a geared 29r. I'll use it for some 12 hour races and such.

my specialized p.2 freeride hardtail, i already have a frame going single speed will probably cost more, since i will need the cog, spacers and tensioner, instead of just a rear derailluer
