Ok, so maybe this isn't big news, but it's a pretty good link for all your urban hipster cycling needs. Add your own links and if you think it's useful I'll sticky it.

EDIT - I just realized what a cheap ******* I've become.

I followed the links to www.swrvecycling.com, and they propose to market a set of wool knickers in the near future with all zippers and no velcro.
I've written to them and asked them to put me on their mailing list.
In the Winter, I normally wear cotton shorts over tights of varying weights and lengths, and I would prefer to wear wool knickers and, when conditions warrant, wool knee socks.
Let's see what happens.

I actually exchanged them once for a larger size, but they ended up still being too small. They were really good/easy to deal with, FYI.

Thanks to Kemmer for the info.
I called the swrve folks about their Rivendell wool knickers (loose cut, y'know), and talked to Muriel.
What nice people.
She didn't have the color I wanted and gave me a lead on someone else.
I'll try to give swrve my business in the future.
Courtesy and kindness should not go unrewarded.

Its funny, I went to the military surplus store and bought two pairs of wool pants for $45 total. Three hours and some sewing later and I had two pairs of knickers that seem to be selling for $100+ each! (yea, yeah I realize it might be slightly coarser wool).

Yeah, I had to add extra room to the front of the leg so that the flexed knee/hip area was comfortable. As far as the higher back, these pants are cut to be worn around like your belly button
