Down to two bikes
Sold the cruisers to my daughters' former baby sitter, who says my daughter and I can borrow them whenever we want. My daughter (coming up on 16) and I haven't ridden in months, and she has shown no interest or inclination, so they were really just in the way.
Sold 'em for what I paid for 'em, so that was nice.
So now I'm down to two bikes. First time in a LONG time!

Having never cared for cruisers, I think you chose the right bikes to sell. I am still happily holding at 1 mountain bike, 3 working road bikes with different personalities, and one project-in-progress road bike.

Just two now, alas. And it seems that they meet 95+% of your needs. One excellent road bike and one excellent hybrid. I suspect even the trusty old Cypress SX is not getting out much.

Since you sold the bikes, it does not violate the first law of bikeodynamics, which is the conservation of bicycle mass and energy. However, the second law of bikeodynamics will cause all of us to grow less satisfied with our bikes over time and require additional expenditures of money to maintain our bicycle equilibrium - i.e., more bikes!

I have yet to test the theory that it's the new pedals, with their pins sticking up, that's the problem. I've tried all the other usual adjustments -- seat fore and aft, up and down, etc. I need to put the old pedals back on and see what happens.
So I wish that would get fixed. But otherwise? Nope -- I love the bike. I'm approaching the first 1,000 miles now.

I have that same problem, dg...
When I was trying to use only* platforms, it was about every 5 miles. When I put toe clips on, it waited until 10 miles, but then happened about every 5 miles. I bought bike shoes, and that switched the problem... I no longer got the numbness overall, but it concentrated to my outside of the foot.
Here's my going theory: I think, given the choice, that I use my toes while I'm pedaling, clenching at the bottom of the stroke. I find all numbness goes away if I make a concentrated effort to relax and stretch my toes upwards for the full stroke for about a quarter mile.
If I have my clips on tight and am working on my spinning, I do not have an issue. I think I'm a leadfoot on the pedals, in other words. I also think my left leg is slightly shorter than my right, which is why I got my saddle sore on the new saddle on the left. I think my right foot takes more of the burden.

So this is a problem that is unique to riding Ruby? It isn't there when you ride the Cypress?
