Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

building a super light ss real wheel

any ss crossers out there have any recommendations for buildng a light but strong real wheel? all ss hubs seem to be heavy and i'm wondering what others are running for super light ss cx wheels (for racing).

You can use any Shimano-compatible road wheelset and convert it for singlespeed:

if you want a dedicated SS hub and you've got cash to blow. you can get a chris king. I don't have the cash to blow but I still might treat myself.

for ss but not fixed i'd definitely try and score a deal on some nice light multispeed wheels and just run a single cog.

if you need something with 120mm spacing then i've gotten three years worth of bang out of my formula hubs buck.

I saw that Performance Bike sells a singlespeed conversion kit ("easily converts most freehub gear systems into a singlespeed system") and remembered this thread:

Tubular rims( I like SunM19A's), DT revolution 1.8/1.5 spokes = light strong wheel...
