No more Dick Pound jokes :(

The Dick has quit WADA.

Hmmm...could this have something to do with the Landis verdict coming up?

We can always hope for the best. Along those lines, wouldn't this incite you to jump OFF that ledge? Do it DocRay, do it.

I presume that if you're involved AACTD stands for Association to Assure Cycling's Total Destruction. And what the hell does 'no more Dick Pound jokes' mean? When was Dick Pound ever funny in the first place?

I heard it from a conversation with a colleague at McGill this morning, it should be out in press soon.

No scuttlebutt, yet. But his position was limited time anyway. They may replace him with a scientist.

He announced a few months back that he was stepping down towards the end of 07. Unfortunately he is being replaced by his right hand man.

Dick Pound is a joke. I'm glad he has left WADA- may he lead a quite retirement well away from anything important.

Hopefully his replacement focuses more on his job than on self promotion and brings some credibility to WADA.

"Doping in sports is like alcoholism. Unless people involved realize there is a problem, it's impossible to have a cure for it." The thing Pound failed to realize for nine years is that realizing there is a problem is not a solution, finding a FAIR solution that relies on ethical legal practices is the solution to eliminating (or at least trying to) doping in sport.

Well, to be fair, he was right about pro cycling and the doping, he was saying this years before the 07 Tour De Farce. He was just saying what people liked to deny or did not want to hear. The fact that every competitor to even come close to Armstrong or Landis has now been proven to cheat, or admitted to it, doesn't seem to influence the opinions of some people. Nor does the fact that many ex-US Postal riders have since been caught cheating. Barry Bonds syndrome.

The ugly work has been done, without any thanks to those responsible. But it will be a few years yet before I start believing Tour results. But, some people like pro wrestling for its entertainment value, even though they call it a sport.

VeloNews had something intresting in there Mag this month....

How Cycling Stacks up...

Sport |1st postive |2nd postive |3rd positive |4th positive|

Baseball |10 day sus |30 day sus |60 day sus |1 year sus|

Football |4 game sus |8 game |1 season

Basketball |10 game sus |25 games |1 year |ejection from League

Hockey |20 game |60 game |ejection from League

Soccer up to and including termination

Cycling 2 year racing ban plus
2 year Protour ban

I hope this translates will when posted....I think cycling is doing great....simply catch them and suspend them...they need to put there time and effort in to Baseball, Football, Basketball and Hockey in that order....the only press should be how they are catching guy in cycling and how it is paving the way to catch other cheats in other sports....thank GOD for cycling....
