calculating calories burned?

I'm wondering if there's a method for determining how many calories I burn during a ride. Are there any cycloputers out there that can give at least a ballpark figure of calories burned?(my current cycloputer is just speed and odometer) Or maybe some math formula or something you can plug other known bits of information into to calculate? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Bikes: Lots

Do a google search for 'calories burned'. There are LOTS of sites.

Some I've referred to are HealthStatus.com, NutritionData, and Calories Per Hour.

I use 25 kcal per mile plus feet ascended divided by 4. I rode 75mi, 7200ft yesterday, which by my calculation is 3675, or 3500 give and take. My Edge 305 said 7000-something and it usually reports about twice my own estimate.

Hard to say. Your best bet is to plug ride info into the calculators others have mentioned.

I can tell you from experience that I'll put out anywhere from 500-900 kilojoules per hour on the bike depending on the intensity of the ride.

This is the one I use too. It's simple and you don't have to input your intensity or time. I learned it here from SSP.
