newb hucking
So i think i understand what hucking is now... basically just going off a drop?
ok anyway... i was on campus yesterday cruisin around going down stairs and finding some drops. I didn't do anything more than 2 feet but it was fun. Im working on the technique first so i don't endo. So i was jumping up the 1.5' curb lookin thing and after i got on the top, about 5 seconds go by, then... psssssssssssssssssssss... my tube blows in about 4 seconds. It was a bran new one I had just put in the day before yesterday and it was supposed to be self sealing. I guess it only self seals thorns or something.
I guess I just dont understand what would have made this happen and how I can prevent it in the future. And, am I stupid for wanting to do drops and stuff with my rockhopper hardtail?
and then if you want, any tips, ideas, or suggestions for a newb lookin for some adventure on campus?

It you smashed your rear wheel on any curbs instead of a clean jump you probably just pinch flatted. My hint would be lift the rear higher
Another hint would be wider tires. They will help you pinch flat less as will dh tubes
the bike can handle what you are throwing at it. But you still have to expect things to go. I spent a pretty penny (many pennies) on my bike and I fix something every week or so it seems

Going tubeless has its advantages. However I would just stick with tubes as bike built for heavy duty stuff like urban assult don't use tubless as the rims arent as strong. tubless stuff is expensive if you get the tubless mavic wheels. but you can go to www.notubes.com and buy the conversion kit pretty cheap
