kokorozashi,
I think you have met your match... I was past by a box turtle in Seneca park last fall. I am just now coming out from hibernation and will commute for the first time this year on Monday. I start @ Bardstown and Goldsmith and complete my commute @ Northeast YMCA to shower up before heading to office nearby.

LOL! Sounds like a match, indeed. You have to watch those box turtles. I believe they cheat.
I have a pet turtle; we'll have to meet up some time and see if we can drop him riding up Baringer Hill Of course, he's a Red-Eared Slider, so he's not great on land ... but hey, that means we have a slightly better chance, right?
I commute from Willow Ave to downtown, with part of the route via Bardstown Road (lately, I've been going Bardstown > Baxter > Main > Clay > Witherspoon > Preston > Riverwalk, because it adds a little distance and is a very pleasant ride). I usually leave around 7:15 - 7:30, though I'm trying to leave earlier now so I can add some mileage to my route.
Let me know how your commute went -- we're having amazing weather lately!

Getting into the flow!
Hey guys and gals, I am getting back into mtb. biking and went to Seneca park and did some trail riding on Sunday. I chose a very technical trail and from what I remembered riding Cherokee in the past it can be quite tricky as well. Any suggestion to a fat 37 year old of where I might "ease" back into things or is it baptism by fire time?!

Anyone planning on going on the Tour de Cave in June here in Mammoth Cave? It will be my first long distance group ride, and I am looking forward to it. Great riding here in south central KY around Mammoth Cave!

Jeffersontown, KY (SE part of the L'ville metro area). I commute on a Felt F1X. Go north on Hourstbourne (not much traffic at 4:30am) and back via neighborhood roads for a 17 mile round trip.

PASTORW,
I am thinking about doing Tour De Cave. Are the routes loops starting and ending at the school?
How often/far are you riding? If I decide to do it we may b eable to hook up and ride together. I would do the 43 mi route and I avg around 12 mph.

Rmagers, email sent.
I will probably do the 43 mile ride. I too average about 12 mph around the hills here. The routes are loops and it looks like it will be a great ride. I normally try to ride 20 to 30 miles a couple of times per week. However with 3 jobs, 2 kids, and a pregnant wife my riding time has been cut down considerable the last few months. If all goes well, I'll see you there and we'll ride together!

You can always go to where they have the CX courses set up on River Road but that would probably be beneath your dignity.

Hey guys, I'm in Lexington. Lovin' this early Spring.
Doing the Redbud ride this month. I'm in it for the century. At least I hope I can do the century. Been out for a week sick. Just got back on the bike this weekend (cough cough, snotty nose) and did a couple of short rides to get back into it. Hope to see a bunch of you there.

This is kind of a dead thread, but Louisville here as well. Most of my riding is commuting downtown to work and back, via the bike route through the highlands. Also, the much more fun bike-bar-hopping in nice weather, also done in the highlands.
