Birthday ride revelations

In a slightly different way of interpreting "riding my age" I must now be 41 years old [10 year loss ].

I took my lightest bike with the TT bars and backpack. It was 26F when I left and 44F when I got home. I made three detours. At 18 miles out I got my haircut. A mile away was Performance Bikes where I bought a tube for my new downtube folder. Three more miles put me at my dentist. The dentist did deep cleaning on the right side of my mouth - ouch. My pocket is ligher the cost of a nice cycloneusa 500w crank mounted motor + a wattmeter.
The dentist was very cool - he let me keep the bike in his office. It turns out he goes car-free with metro. The hairdresser also lets me park inside.

Some discoveries/sightings:
  • one huge deer crossing the MUP
  • one smaller deer within 40' with 4 points
  • several winter clad riders
  • I haven't gotten stronger
  • I'm slow

True- but my doctor lost my appointment for my yearly physical so I had to do something. Another favorite is to donate blood.

Thanks, on my recovery commute into work today [35F and drizzle] I got a "you're really hardcore" complement. That and a hot cup of coffee made my day.

BTW - my wife is turning 50 on Thanksgiving day and our family will be taking a Mexican cruise out of San Diego. I'll be passing DGs stopping grounds.

My dentist is the last place I want to visit on my birthday

There is no way you can compare Creme Brulee to pie- Even if I do class it as an equal to the best pie available- Providing you have it in a French restaurant sitting outside by the river watching tomorrows Main course being Caught.

I hear that all the Cruise Ships in San Diego are white, but, unfortunately very, very slow.
