Hello from Vancouver

Looking forward to linking up with other cycling minded individuals so I can toss my Adidas and Apollo and not fall over when I use my first clip-ons!

Welcome! And we who have gradiated to ye ole clipless status -------------- don't envy you at all!!

just kidding.

Sometimes a learning curve, sometimes not - just relax. One thing they do is they really make you think about where, when and how far the stop is. Once that's down then instantaneous decisions (I ride clipless in busy city traffic) become second nature. Oh yeah, and enjoy them.

There are a few people out there who've managed to avoid the famous 'slow-motion falling over whilst clipped in' fall, but not many.

You CAN beat the odds .

By the way, is that Vancouver BC, or Vancouver WA?

Welcome to BF!

Vancouver, B.C. Really do enjoy riding around Washington, though, and am planning to do more of it. I'll let you know how I fare with the clip-ons - I hear you should practise at home first where the fall is soft. Now, is the proper term clip-on or clip-in or clipfull rather than clipless?

You are clipped in, using clipless pedals .

It's a long story.... .

you'll love being cliped in

after just one ride you'll wish you switched to clips years ago. I've been riding clipped-in for over 2 years now and feel slow and akward when i'm not clipped-in. Good luck and have fun. btw - i switched in the dead of a MN winter surrounded by ice and snow - haven't fallen yet.

Thanks, Surly, that's encouraging news. I just have Vancouver water to deal with.
