anyone else sick of "THE" argument?

I'm getting real sick of people bring up the shimano and anti shimano argument, it's been beaten to death! And I would be find just not reading those threads that have stated as that is the topic in the thread, BUT in any thread lately that mentions shimano or sram or pretty much any type of component some how it gets to the shimano sucks or doesn't suck... I'm really sick of that POOP!

Get over it little kids, stop arguing on the play ground! Shimano is doing what they want, not saying I like it or dis like it, we just all need to let it go. And the guys that are for shimano need to let it go if someone says something like they don't like it! GROW UP PEOPLE! This is what makes mountain biking mountain biking! We have parts we all like or don't like, and we have options to buy it or not buy it. Granted it will be lame when bikes come stock with these parts, cause it could make it more costly to change to something else later on...but that's another issue!

Again... breath everyone step back and let things flow with out RANTING!

pnj I don't think it is quite the same we all can agree Ford's SUCK!!! haha j/k

With mtb it is Shimano bs SRAM debate, and with roadies it is Shimano vs Campy debate.. All these manufactures make some good quality parts, some just have a personal preference to one or the other.

I suspect that in a "blind taste test," a large portion of riders couldn't tell the difference from one make to the other.

You might be right oregon, they might taste the same

I think major difference would be how they are setup, for exampel SRAM has gripshift.. Shimano has rapidfire.. shimano has STI and Campy has Ergo as for how they shift they all perform well so just comes down to what do you like.

As the instigator of one of these good-shimano, bad-shimano debates, I would just like to say that I was just bordering on going insane that suddenly my parts were becoming incompatible with replacement parts by the same manufacturer, and it was just a LITTLE frustrating to see it happen. Dont get me wrong I love shimano and think they are great for mountain biking, and I think integration is great, it just appeared to me that there was a motive on their part to force the consumers to buy 4 shimano parts when they only wanted one. I am not challenging any pro-shimano argument, simply adding my two cents

I like Shimano over Sram. Dogs more than Cats. Chevy's and Jeff Gordon over Ford's and Matt Kenseth. Don't really like watching football. And oh yeah, I'm a Christian.

Just some fodder for debate!

But I digress, I do get tired of the Shimano v. Sram debate!

I definately couldent tell sram from shimano. Grip shift feels the exact same as rapid fire.

Sram is crap, shimano rules.

The real debate is why 9 speed, but I'll let that one alone.

NASCAR drivers need to turn right more often.

i drive a mazda(made by ford)i like my grip shifts AND my rapid fires.i have 2 bikes.i have a THE fender that is REAL COOL looking on my Walmart downhill bike.it is a mongoose xs 850 that i took the good stuff from an old bike and put on this HeaVY DUTY frame.this thing ways a ton but it goes real fast downhill.again the fender by THE is COOL.sram and shimono both have their good points.every thing does.i am a Christian also.let us not get to fighting over things that are cool to us lets fight over real problems.is yellow or red a better THE color.i prefer black cuz it looks cool on my mongoose bike.what is your favorite THE color

HMMM funny guess you could have maybe actually read my whole post before you posted that......let's look shall we?

Dude, I said I avoid the ones that have that argument going on! But when someone posts a topic as in new parts for their bike and then list their parts and some jackarss chimes in with well don't get rid of the what ever part and then it turns into a shimano is good and sram is bad or what ever outa nowhere it pisses me off, I'm sick of reading a good thread that then goes bad cause those idiots can't know when to stop! They have wrecked many threads doing that!!!

So again why don't you read my entire post, before you make remarks about how I should not click on it, cause if that was true, I'd not come back cause almost every topic in here has that argument somewhere.
