I have a 1985 Pinarello Treviso Im going to be listing on ebay and I wanted to get some opinions on what I should set the reserve and BIN prices at.

Crankset: Dura Ace 170mm

I picked this bike up a few weeks ago from a local collector and have been battling back and forth over to keep it or to sell it. At one point I listed it then backed out of the sale. I've since put a few hundred miles on it I have a few people very interested but I cant decide what to do.
There are a few superficial nicks but it is a great looking and even more a excellent riding bike.
What do you guys think

Nice looking bike. If that's your daughter I think she's saying that'll fit her in about 14 years.

You might be able to get 700 or so out of it, depending on condition of the components, that's just my guess.

Do you need to sell it? Sounds like you're on the fence.

I've ridden it and its a great bike. Its about 1cm small but that can be compensated for i have a 110mm
Cinelli on there right now it originally had a 90mm and that kinda made the difference. I really am on the fence though we just bought a new house and we're doing projects and what not so a little extra $$ this time of year never hurts. I was thinking $600 reserve price and $750 BIN so sounds like i was on target

I have been quite lucky selling selling Pinarellos on ebay, for the first treviso I sold ,I got over $1000 (super record, decals flacking badly) , the second, sold recently for $860 (campagnolo victory panto, decals replaced).The decals on yours are in excellent condition, but being equipped with shimano I think a buy it now of $750 , as you suggested , would be fair and the bike should go quickly. I would suggest that you only put a buy it now, no starting price, no reserve. People will just wait till the end to get a better deal when they could pay the $750. Just my opinion, I hope you will get what you want for it.

I picked this trek upa while back from a yardsale for $30.
Any Idea what i could get for this through the Bay

Skip the reserve and the BIN. I'd wait until late Feb to sell, if it were mine. The Shimano won't help the price, unless you find someone like me who loves that era DA.

If this is a spare, I say sell. If you don't have a nicer bike, what do you expect to be able to get for $6-800 that would be as nice? In that case

I never put reserves. If you want to make money - start your bidding at 25 cents, with no reserve. If it's worth money - you'll get money for it. I've done all my auctions like this, and have almost never gotten less for something than I was expecting to get.

Sometimes I think you're right. Reserve auctions might scare off a lot of people. I know from personal experience setting your start price high definitely will scare off a lot of people.

But, you have to know your market and the time of year to sell. I personally don't like to gamble, especially when it means putting money in ebay's pocket, less in mine and the winner keeping more in his/hers.

What scares me about what you said, is "almost".

Okay, so you have 15 bikes....what else ya got? If you're selling this, either it's your best bike, need the money for now, or there's some other awful good stuff hiding in the stable. Cmon....tell us.

I had a local offer for the Trek of $160 maybe Ill consider it a little.
As for the head bagde that would greatly decrease the frame value lol..but if I ever wreck it real bad its yours.
Ill probably just sell the whole thing I dont forsee myself wanting to ship like 20 boxes here there and everywhere.

This one has a lot of sentimental value to it. This was my first build up and she may not be the prettyest
bike on the block but shes definately one of my all time favoritesIm pretty sure its a 79 I bought the frame years back and built it up like I said the only thing stock is the headset.
it has a Shimano 600 Crankset, Shimano 600 Rear derailleur, Shimano Dura Ace downtube shifters, Shimano Dura Ace Front Derailleur, Campagnallo Headset,
Wolber 27" rims on Campy hubs, Tires are new 27" X 1" Performance Forte (K).
It has a Felt carbon Fiber Seat post, Shimano 105 Breal levers and Callipers. the paint is original few dings but nothing major.

The only really dissapointing one was when I sold a Sachs Torpedo 3 speed coaster brake hub, shifter, and pulley, and only got $20 for it. I always figured that it was probably because people are more accustomed to Sturmey Archer and Shimano that not many people saw the auction. If it's rare - and esoteric that could justify putting a reserve on, since probably only a few people will know what they're looking for and what they want to buy. But if it's well known, and desirable - there's pretty much no reason to put a reserve on.

I haven't sold stuff on ebay for awhile because its getting harder to find and I'd rather have it if I need it, but I never had any luck with putting reserves on stuff. It'll find its own value.

Don't use a reserve. Use a BIN and high starting price the first listing. If it doesn't sell, use a lower starting price and slighly lower BIN the 2nd round. But reserve auctions are proven to attract fewer buyers.

I think Im pretty comfortable with this thing selling for what its worth. I think I may roll the dice and start it at $0.99 and see what happens. Is that to much of a gamble this time of year?
