Maintenance tips....???
Hi All
I've just started out and have only a basic understanding of bikes.
I've bought a Saracen Raw3 for off-road and wondered if you guys know of any good links which will show how to maintain and repair a mountain bike thoroughly (written in layman's terms).
I've tried using the search ****ion and nothing appears under 'maintenance' !!!
So help appreciated, Andy

Look at Sheldon Brown's Harris Cyclery web site and Park Tools web site for a great range of articles on bike maintenance. Also "Bicycling Magazines Complete Guide to Bicycle Maintenance and Repair" is a good introductory manual and available in almost any book store.

A month ago my wife decided I needed another bike. I bought a TREK fitness bike. When I went to register it on-line, I discovered and downloaded TREK's bicycle manual in PDF. It contains a lot of good maintenance information, even how to adjust your dérailleurs and many torque specs. Anyone can download the manual.

Also, if you want a good book to cover in black fingerprints on your workbench, Lennard Zinn's "Zinn and the Art of Mountain Bike Maintenance" is a good one. It covers all levels of work, from the basics up to tearing into your suspension. It also lists different types of tools that the beginning mechanic should acquire and so on. He also includes tricks to unforeseen field repairs with just the basic stuff you ride with. The illustrations are great, and are all done by a local artist.

pretty easy to maintain a bike just check everything is tightened once in a while and keep on lubing,a few minor udjustments here and there thats about it,bikes aint rocket science
