Park Tool DAG-1

Is a hanger alignment tool a practical thing to own for the home mechanic?

Depends on how many bikes you (and your friends) own. If you do a lot of work on older bikes, it might come in handy. Did you find one cheap?

It's a tool I've been thinking of getting. Sort of like a "to be sure" type of tool. I am clumsy and have a tendency to smack rocks. I think this tool is probably more useful to a clumsy mountain biker than to a roadie.

I have a $50 gift card to Performance, looking for ways to spend it. I've got 6 bikes in the garage but honestly i guess i would just be getting it as a luxury. It would be nice to know you have a straight hanger when you are looking for shifting issues.

It is a handy tool, especially if you fall down a lot.

I bought one when it went on sale. I've used it enough that I don't feel bad about having it.

I have about 7 bikes to take care of. Being a carpenter, I'm kind of a tool horse. But this a great tool to have, esp. if you have MTB's.
