There was also an excellent article in the just-out February issue of Mountain Bike Action.

They fit inside a lot of forks already (and inverteds of course) - - though I don't know if that will still be the case when someone makes a 2.5 or 2.6.
It's going to be one of my future experiments to do 650b front/26 rear. That and a planetary hub or hub/gerarbox. Think motocross bike

Seems like it was a French standard even before the 26" existed but got replaced by the 26". Sheldon also points out that referring to it as the "27.5" is silly and that "650b" is the correct way to refer to it.
