Hi, first post. I have an older frame with an older fork that i wanted to install a new dual-pivot brake on. Upon attempting to install a new cannondale delta brake i noticed that the mounting screw will not reach through the hole in the fork. is there anything i can do about this? do they even make newer dual-pivots that will fit this older style of fork?

However, before you go too far on this project, check to make sure that the brake caliper has long enough reach to work. Many older frames/forks were made for calipers with longer reach than are now fashionable. See: https://sheldonbrown.com/reach for details on this, and how to measure reach.

You might have a brake meant for recessed mounting, and a fork meant for the older-style mounting. If you go to a bike shop they should be able to set you up with a different bolt.

The alternate method is to drill out the back of the fork crown to make the hole larger, then the recessed mounting "nut" will fit in properly.

Is it not possible to just replace the bolt that came with the brake with a longer bolt? Or does it somehow specially fit the brake assembly?

The bolts are very special, and tricky to change.
