Why the bad rap on FSA cranksets?
I see them bashed frequently around here. They look pretty sexy, do they really perform that poorly?

I've had mine for 1000 miles give or take, no problems at all. FSA team issue, i think... the ones with the removable spider.

Peloton Shelter Dog
The crankset on my Cdale TT bike is an FSA manufactured carbon unit. Works fine. Looks great.

The 07 shimano's (ultegra and dura ace) are very sexy, but as far as carbon goes i like FSA more than anything i've seen i'd say. The red accents would work well on my bike (and the FSA stem i suppose...)

I have the FSA Carbon crankset with ceramic bearings. Just as smooth as my Dura Ace, which means it's not true that Dura Ace works better. Where do these people dream up this stuff?? Also they look way better than D/A!!

While I agree with you, this is an opinion, correct? There was a time when I was smitten with the bulky black carbon w/ striping of the FSA cranks.

I know my Ultegra compact (50-34) shifts just a bit more smoothly than the FSA set I had. But I wouldn't bash FSA.

I haven't had any issues with mine other than the dustcap thing coming off the left side. Shimano didn't have a compact at the time and I actually prefer the looks.

Don't know if you can put Shimano chainrings on an FSA crank, though. Never tried.

I don't know about Shimano on Pinarello but it would definitely be blasphemy on a Colnago.

I think the bad rap comes from those who didn't install their crankarms correctly, with enough torque on the bolts that hold it on.
It's really easy for FSA cranks to loosen and just fall off, or wreck the crankarm's grooves.
