Hello, from Fort Lauderdale

I am an apparently insane person trying to commute to work in SoFla at least three days a week. My trip is roughly 16 miles round trip, which isn't really too bad, though some of the things I run across are clearly mind-boggling from a pedestrian/bike friendly urban design standpoint (Imagine, a multi-use path set away from the road ends at a canal. The bridge over the canal is two lanes. No shoulder. The speed limit on the road is 35, which means everyone is going 50...I am to cross this...how? I don't go that way anymore.)

I'm slowly getting set up 'just so', but the bike days are really the most fun part of working! I have a Cannondale Bad Boy for the ride to work (Drop bars just would not work for me on these roads - the Bad Boy has been awesome thus far) and a Rocky Mountain Fusion when and if I find singletrack nearby that is worth the sauna-like temperatures.

If you see a dorky girl on a black bike in Fort Lauderdale - please don't run me over!

Hi Brianna, we've heard some good horror stories about cycling in Florida ! Makes me glad I am here in Puget Sound, instead .

Welcome to BF, and good luck with that learning curve!
