Fixed Gear Conversation Help

Long time reader, first posting. I've been trying to meet fixie riders but i'm having trouble starting up a friendship. What should I open with? gear inches? powergrips vs clips and straps?

are there any guides online that i can read?

sorry if this is a repeat thread, i tried to use search.

Thanks!
Alex

conversation does not mean conversion.
get yourself an easy gear
powergrips or clips is a personal preference

i think the best method is to avoid other cyclists at all costs. scowl alot. when the other cyclists see your behavior, they'll think you're somebody special and they'll all want to meet you!

continue to blow them off. they'll come in droves!

remember: the more aloof you hold yourself, the more important you must be.

try introducing yourself whilst doing a no handed light a cig skid. it gives them something to remember you by, and shows off your reigning skills. if you can't do this, then you dont deserve to have friends.

EDIT: i can't believe i forgot to mention this. light a joint skids have been scientifically proven by the PHDA to increase likeliness of friendships by 28%.

Suck up to them by complementing their brakeless UO8 conversion with the daring droop in the chain and the wild cards stuck in the spokes of the rear wheel. Tell them you are planning on using a chopped piece of wood 10 inches long up front on your next conversion.

I've tried this but haven't had much success. Do I actually want to stand over my bike or just hold it by the stem and put my hips at a funny angle? Sadly my conversion is WAAAYY too big for me, so standing over it might be an issue...

for me it's hard to meet other riders while actually riding. i'm either too busy checking out their bike, while avoiding immovable objects, or i'm just in a rush and need to get to where i need to be. i think most of the networking needs to be done off the bike.

does anyone else seem to get the stink eye from other fixed riders while riding? i'm sure it could be a bunch of other things, but i don't know...
