That works out to something like 3 minutes extra life span per person. Time enough for an extra cigarette.

On average. Some get much more, like those who avoid lung cancer.

How would I spend 3 extra minutes? If they were 3 extra minutes of excruciating pain maybe they wouldn't be all that valuable.

Three minutes average for everybody, even those who still drive. But I'm pretty sure that cycling every day will add a lot more than three minutes to my own life. (Unless I get hit by a bus)
