crown race installation

When installing a crown race onto a fork, how do you hold the fork still? Where would you clamp it?

I hold the fork upside down with the tool on the steerer and my thumb between the fork legs and tap it on my vise or the cement floor.

I just hold the fork in my hand. Dont put carbon forks on the ground and pound the race hammer, you can potentially break the fork legs

I brace the fork on a vertical piece of 2 X 4 between the fork legs.

I have this cheesy workbench that I got from Harbor Freight that allows me to use the worktop as a clamp - I put the fork blades in that and tighten down.
