Does this brake setup work?
I'm about to purchase a front break setup for my SS build and I just wanted to be sure it would all be compatible. Here are the parts.
Paul E-Lever
Torelli cable
Shimano Ultegra caliper or Campy Chorus
The reason why I'm concerned is because the E-Lever takes MTB style cable. The Torelli cable has both road and mtb ends but I've never setup a brake system from scratch so I just want to be sure.
Also, I can cut the cable to the length I need? Do the ends reattach? How does that work?

Yes, you can cut it. You don't reattach the ends; the brake should clamp the cable and then you put a crimp cap on the naked end.

Is the E Lever designed for canti brakes or V brakes? If is designed for cantis then everything will work.

That sounds right and I feel like an idiot now for not knowing that. My BMX worked the same way, I've never setup road calipers before and assumed it was different. Ok so with the Torelli cables, I just insert the MTB end into the lever and just cut the other end off.

looks-wise it is up to you, but I can vouch for very nice braking from the Ultegra.

Campy has the release built into the brake lever so get the Shimano.

yeah I know. I thought the poster was telling me to get a caliper with a quick release suggesting that the Ultegras didnt have them. I read the post wrong.
