Attach to Bike Stand via SQR Mounting block

I just got a Carradice Seatpost Quick Release system for my Barley. With the SQR Mounting block, there is not enough free space left on the post to clamp the bike into the repair stand. Removing the SQR block everytime I want to use the repair stand, is not something I care to do.

I am considering making a special clamp that will allow me to suspend the bike in the stand USING THE SQR BLOCK. Is this a bad idea?

Get another CHEAP seatpost. Mark you insertion on yours, and swap them when you want to do repairs.
