Co-Worker & MT Bike
I guess the folks at work know that I like bikes. This guy at work says he's thinking of buying a MT bike to ride the trails. I know about where he lives, he isn't talking about rail trails; he's talking about deer trails.
So I said, Take a look at the Trek and Specialized websites and told them there were many others. His reply was, I'm gonna buy a cheapie. You can't argue with that mentality considering most of the guys I work with barely walk erect.
So I took the seat and the front wheel off of my 4300 and put in the back of the Corolla. I'll mention to him that my MT bike is in the back of my car if he wants to take a spin after work. Granted I put 1.6 tires on as opposed to the 2.0 knobbies for tarmac errands and grocery gettin' but he'll get the drift...I think. Then when he rides a bike from Western Auto (anyone remember them?) maybe he'll get a clue.
If he doesn't, then I'll take it for a spin

He's not exactly sedentary, he works very hard at work albeit 1/2 my age minus 5. But I don't think he realizes what he's in for. I can almost see it coming though, no helmet + no glasses = stick in eye......God forbid!

Yeah, riding a mountain bike isn't "mountain biking". Singletrack riding is for people with some skills.
