Does anyone know of a good set of either bib shorts or bib knickers that you can get on the market that have extra material, or maybe even wind blocking material in the ... uhm... crotchital area?

So far we've had temps ranging from low 40's to mid 60's, so I've been mostly sticking to my leg warmers and arm warmers. I have jackets and stuff like that so my upper body is fine. And with my windtex booties on and a pair of wool socks my feet are toasty. And the leg warmers usually keep my legs pretty warm. The only area I seem to be suffering is in the crotch area. I've been on a few rides with the temps in the high 40's (F) or the low 50's, and I come back and it almost looks like I have a 2nd degree sunburn in that area.

I wear voler bib shorts and big knickers. I believe they are 8 oz material. I was hoping someone sold winter shorts with either heavier material or maybe even wind blocking material.

Or maybe it's just time to pull out the winter tights and wear them over my shorts.

Or I guess i could stuff a shirt down my pants. LOL... j/k.

That's what I did. Although one day it got warm enough during my ride they had to come off (the tights not the shorts). Rolled them up as tight as I could and stuffed them in my jersey pocket. Looked like I had some sort of growth on my lower back but it wasn't uncomfortable.

How about a stratigically placed sock? I would probably recomend against wool with this application though.

I did see a pair of tights in this magazine that has this type of material in front, however, they were like $200 a pair. That's a bit steep for me. Guess I'll have to do some searching on the web.

P. B. - you make a great point - I've also been wondering if anyone made "wind resistent" shorts. Some days it's just not cold enough for my full-blown triflex tights, but the cold wind slices right through the shorts. Someone must make polypro-like bike shorts, but I have yet to find them...
