The reason I was off the bike for 10 days...
Nicholas Ivan was born at 11:42pm on Thursday April 24, 2008. 7lbs 9oz, I hope he continues to defy genetics and remain a small, and adorable, little booger

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Aww, cute little fellow. Don't worry, the bike will be waiting when things calm down a bit.

Congrats! Time to get the baby seat for the bike. I do suppose you have about 12 mos before you should hook it on though.

Nice work there Ben! This ride (fatherhood) will take you to places your bike can not go.... The great thing about having kids is that you get to play like a kid again! But you will need your cycling for a little Ben-time. Enjoy it and congratulations.

Thanks for the good words, everyone! So far so good, today at 11:42 he'll be two weeks old, and it's been a great two weeks. I'm definitely loving it so far, but I've "cheated" in two ways. First, while he's my first my wife already has two children AND worked as a daycare teacher for a number of years. It's kind of like going to your first high school football game with the Green Bay Packers backing you up. Seriously, she rules.
Second, the other two kids have prepped me for the fatherhood thing. They're 4 (almost 5) and 7 now, when we started down this crazy journey they were 2 (almost 3) and 5 so I've had a couple years now to learn the ways of the force, so to speak. We've been living together as a family for over a year now, so it's definitely prepped me.
But, you know, who am I kidding. I'm a pushover for the three of ours . It's a blast, I'm really enjoying it and now getting my mileage back in! That pro of a wife sure helps out, and some days even pushes me out the door.. LOL!
