What do you all think of BIG BIKE?
Hey, just wondering what all of you think of the big bike companies? and the full susp. bikes now days. I'm not an old rider (28) I'm just tired of buying new fs bikes every 4-5 years and all the maintenance. I like a quality light ride. In order to get a fs bike in a large frame with good componet's that weighs 28 pounds or less you have to spend $2000 or more.
I'm okay with spending $2000 on a bike as it's what I love to do. I just expect to ride it more that 5 years before I'm fighting bearing issues and riding a bike that looks really dated.
I think a better bike for many budget serious rec riders would be a quality chro-moly hard or soft tail.
Is anyone else feeling mislead?

I like smaller companies b/c:
1. I root for the underdog as long as I like the performance
2. The average "thug" hasn't heard of Jamis.
3. It's nice to be different.
I don't feel mislead though. The average dually today is much better than the top shelf one 10 years ago. My old Super-V was 28-30 lbs., was super inefficient (coil boingy), and only had a little over 2" of travel up front. My XLT was 32lbs, but was much more efficient, plush, and tough compared to the Super-V.
Buy a bike that suits your terrain best. If that's a hardtail, so be it. If you have alot of DH and rocky madness...stick with the dually. Duallies are much more fun IMO. I have a hardtail b/c of all the climbing that I do compared to the shredding-gnar rockgarden stuff that all you spoiled bikers are blessed to have.
If you're gonna get a dually, get a Heckler. There are only 2 bearings and they're big ones that will last a while. It's a good tough frame.
