Bad Bottom Bracket
I biked a lot over the winter on an indoor trainer and about a month ago my bike started to make creaking noises. I took it to my LBS and they said everything was fine and that my bottom bracket just needed to be cleaned. The next time I used it on the trainer after about 40 min of biking the creaking noise came back. I took it to a different shop and they said that they re torqued the bottom bracket and everything looked good. So I brought it home and started to ride outdoors. i don't hear the creaking noise as much but I do hear a grinding noise similar to how a brake sounds when it is rubbing. This sound only happens when I pedal. I am just wondering is my bottom bracket bad or is there something else that could be wrong.
I got this bike used about a year ago and have since put 2500 miles on it. Any information would be very helpful
Thanks

yank your cranks off and turn the bottom bracket spindle by hand, if its bad, youll feel it. It will turn rough, or have some play in it. Dont expect it to spin freely though, there will be a bit of resistance from the seals that is normal just so long as its smooth. Of course if its creaking the bottom bracket tube could be a bit out of round and the bottom bracket no longer threads in tight, that would mean a new frame...
Another thought if it is the bottom bracket creaking in the frame add a little teflon tape to the threads.
