The I Will Never Be Under 200 Thread!

I have no hope, no goal and no desire to be under 200 lbs again. Last time I was under 200, was 20 years ago. This pic is me about 3 or 4 years ago. I trained hared, 7300 miles that year, 23 centuries, not one bite of fast foods, no butter, no mayo! I chased 150 lb mtn goats all over the mtns, I did my best time on a 10,000 ft centuries. I climbed 5,000 ft every weekend for months, sometimes during the week. I'm not saying I can't reach that level of fitness again (which I plan to), I just know I will never be under 200. So I don't worry about it or set it as a goal.

This was me at my best, 218 lbs!.....30 lbs ago!

Anybody else not set it as a goal?

Naw, not all muscle.....

He does have a few brain cells between the ears.

I just know I need to get out to So Cal and see if he can demolish me on a ride (Actually, it's pretty likely he can....I can't climb worth a tinkers "d". )

Actually I don't ride that way, unless someone says,"u suck, I can breat U!"

I'm the guy that pulls the train for 40, 50 ,60 miles then has guys sprint around me for the last 1 or 2! Very rarely will anyone jump in front and say,"lemme help you!"..Being a clyde has some drawbacks when it comes to drafters!

For the record. Markadam and BigJohn are a couple that are willing to work and are STRONG riders.

I have about 40 to get where I want to be and that will be under 200 lbs, and I will still be overweight at 6'3". I know that because I was over weight in high school at 6'3", and I was at 185 approximately then. I don't mean obese, I mean that I had body fat around my waist and chest.

My goal is for 237 lbs, which will be a loss of 330lbs from my fattest, and 30lbs below my very-lean but muscular high school football weight. I'd love to hit 199, but I know it'll never happen.

Sub 200 is not a goal for me either. I graduated at 218 (20 years ago), that was my wrestling weight and I wold be happy to get close to that again. Recently, I ballooned up to 175Kg (385lbs) and to tell you the truth it;s the first time that I/ve seen myseflf as fat. My average weight for the past 10 years has floated around 310lbs but I have always been at the top of my raquetball pyramid, the first up the mountain and I am a dive master. 2 years ago I had a baby. My fantastic wife loves me they way that I am and admits liking bigger guys. However, a new baby confines you more to the house and you become less active for the first couple of yearsso like I said I ballooned up to 385 in 2 years. So I am back on the wagon and today I am down to 165 kilos in just under 3 weeks (Atkins, a little modified cause I had to shake a coke addiction so I eased in... Oh yeah, that's coca cola addict not the poweder form howeveer I think the one is just as addictive as the other.

Now that being said, one of the reasons that I never want to be under 200 is that once, under my mom's request I went to weight watchers and they told me to aim for 180 (I was 290 at the time). I didn't believe it, so I went to my doctor and asked if it was realistic. He said no, that I'd be a sickly 180. He said also that I presented no problems that I was actine and the with no hypertension, normal cholesterol and tryglycerides and a resting heart rate of 56 I would run a risk at going so low. He said to aim for 225. And tht's what I am aiming for now!

Peace all,

Ttibby...

Been sitting at 235 - 240 for months, even after increasing miles and intensity and counting calories, blahblahblah... This is just what I weigh; so be it.

It boggles some of the lightweights when I can keep up in a 20+mph pack... until they drop me like a hot rock on the hill climbs.

I'll never get under 200 and feel healthy. I'm 2.5 ft + across the shoulders, 6'2" and have a bone structure that doctors have been amazed I've managed to break a couple of times. Heck, I've been hit by a runaway railcar that went downhill for a 1/4 mile and the worst that happened was an almost totally sprained spine but no breaks! Wrecked a motorcycle at speed and only exploded a tendon.

So given how I do things (clumsily maybe? nah...just living life!) me being smaller might actually be hazardous to my wellbeing.

Less bounce to the ounce yo!

Just joined, but... 200lbs is still 20 over my goal. At my absolute fittest, coming off an 80 mile backpacking trip in New Mexico 8 years ago at 17... I weighed 205. I like the idea of clydesdale. Or perhaps a Percheron.

Hey.. they're all draft horses for a reason right?

I've been sitting on a nice, comfy plateau of 205 for a while now. It's easy to take the defeatist attitude and say "What the hell....". By all measures other than BMI, I'm perfectly healthy. People say I don't need to lose weight. My weight no longer gets in the way of the things I want to do.

But then I do a mountain bike race.

And all those skinny guys kick the crap out of me.

Nobody- *NOBODY* with a BMI over 25 will ever excel at mountain bike racing.

Moral victories were fun last year. I want real victories now.

Thanks. You're not too bad yourself.

I don't think I'll ever get below 200. My 0% bodyfat weight right now is 204lbs. I know that as I get slimmer, my 0% weight will decrease as well. So I'd like to shoot for about 10% bodyfat or less, that'd be 220lbs or less. Currently at about 255.

Recently, our club leader asked for everyone's stats (height & weight, etc). I didn't want to as I'd see all these 140lb guys listed. UrbanKnight says, "Just fudge it, give him your high school weight". I am my high school weight!!

I never plan to hit 200. I will be content with 230 at 6'5" and broad shoulders.
Funny thing happened today, though. I have been training and putting on muscle. No weight loss, but haven't really tried to eat too low cal. I dropped a jeans size from 44 to 42. I had some 42s that my wife had bought me last time I was dieting. Pulled them on and zipped. I seem to be converting flab to muscle.

I didn't think I could get below 200 but I've been sitting at 196 for about 3 months now. So I guess it was possible. I did have to shed some muscle to do it though. I'd like to gain back some muscle and lose some more fat and even out about 190 or so. It's gonna take me another year to do that though. I'm thinking if I carried Beanz muscle I'd never get under 2 bills also.

Being under 200 shouldn't be everyone's goal. Some people are just beefy or genuinely big framed and just big being well over 6 foot. It should only be a target for the smaller people who should not be over 200 purely because of excess fat. It doesn't mean we can't be fit even if fat but getting rid of excess fat is beneficial.

It's funny, I take the side of some of the really big guys on another forum I visit. The skinny guys say he' overweight cause he's lazy. I say bull! Some people just are BIG and have genetics to be BIG! Skinny guys say it's laziness but I say genetics. Sure , we can all get fit or lose some but this guy at 6'6 will never be 180 like the others claim he should be. BS!

My thinking is bodytypes have plenty to do with it! I could easily say if the skinny guy can't byuild muscle, then he's lazy too! But I know better. I have skinny frineds tha thave pumped iron with me and they just don't get big. some but not much!

I have been riding my bike, burned off pleny of muscle but the minute I lift a weight, I start getting big and/or hard. I've been thinking of losing weight but going to the gym with my daughter. I have been lifiting LIGHT weights. Only enough to sit in with her and perform the exercises as an example and time for her to catch her breath. I thought I'd lose weight but LOOK! My muslces are responding just looking at the weights!

Wish my tummy would do the same!

Ooops, a double post! At 6'1, never will I be 200 again! Oh well, my grandson is turning out to be a huge kid. I just may need to get bigger to protect myself in my old age!
