Camp Pendleton Olympic, July 19th. Who's going?
Hey everyone. I just signed up for my first olympic distance triathlon, to be held in Camp Pendleton in north San Diego county on July 19th. Is anyone else participating? I'm actually moving to the san diego area (UCSD in particular) about a month prior, and I am looking for training partners. Anyone around?

Actually, I'm graduating from UC Irvine in a few weeks. I'll be working in a lab on the UCSD campus for a year. The Carlsbad tri looked fun, but I wanted to do an olympic distance, so I sided with the pendleton one. I'll probably bike up there that day to check out the action, though. I'll be living near UCSD and I'll be training in the area. Whereabouts are you located? I'm looking for training partners and I think the tri will be a lot of fun.

I was going to do it but it isn't USAT sanctioned. It's not a really big deal, but I prefer sanctioned races.

I am planning on it, it's the best deal in So Cal triathlons. Did it for the first time last year, very well run, and good shirts too
Beware the very long run from the swim to T1. The bike course is the first 12 miles of the California 70.3. The run has a nasty little hill at about miles 2 and 5

Yeah, in 2007, didn't do it this year due to other races. Am planning on doing it in 2009 though. Lots of people don't like it because it's early and can be cold, but it's well run (anything by NAS is pretty well run) and biking on Pendleton is cool.
