Trek Wireless Cyclocomputer

I just bought a wireless computer and i have a big question..

The manual states "place the sensor near the top of the fork"

How does the computer know and calculate the distance from the center of the wheel to "wherever" it happens to be mounted.

I set the wheel size and all, But wouldnt the computer read faster speeds the closer it put the sensor to the center of the wheel? More RPMs = Higher speed?

Anyway maybe im missing something I thought that had to be set somewhere back when I installed my wireless like 10 years ago.

Thanks

Location of sensor on fork makes no difference in RPM's. It's still only one RPM each time magnet passes sensor.
